Interview Questions/Topics

  • I’ve checked out your LinkedIn profile and Linktree - right away I can tell that you’re into the developer job and community space with Torc, your podcast, etc.
    • Can you give the audience a summary of what you do and why?
    • How does the current job market affect your day-to-day?
  • We’ve had internal discussions about the current state-of-the-industry. The job market is of course pretty competitive right now - but it seems like the enthusiasm for the industry is lower by the day. It’s starting to feel more like “just a job” and less of  “fun community of enthusiastic coders” like it did before (especially during COVID) - It seems I’m seeing less people “loving to code” and more people “desperate to get a coding job”
    • Do you agree with this stance? Is web development losing its luster? What does this mean for the industry at large?
    • How important is community these days? I assume it helps weather the job market storm?
  • I noticed on Torc that there is a section for job seeking developers and for talent seeking companies. We hear a lot about developers seeking jobs and very little about companies seeking talent - let’s pull back the curtain a bit
    • How important is it to foster a good relationship with companies looking to hire? Or are they just desperate to get talent through the door?
  • Someone approaches you in a desperate state, they need your help asap - let’s play this one from both sides of the coin
    • What advice do you have for developers that really need to get a job asap?
    • What advice do you have for companies that really need to find talent asap?
