Interview Questions

  • There’s a lot of ways to learn how to code in 2025 including: individual influencers, traditional education, online courses, YouTube videos, AI guided chats, etc.
    • What makes freeCodeCamp stand out from all these options?
    • When I first started coding years ago I remember seeing freeCodeCamp had mentioned that there were real-world projects for real-world “clients” that you would eventually work on as apart of your curriculum - can you tell me about that program and if it still exists as it did back then?
    • How has the rise of AI effected developer education in your opinion? How has it effected freeCodeCamp?
    • When I was in college, certifications (specifically for IT-adjacent topics like networking) were very sought after, do you think that certifications offered by freeCodeCamp and others are still sought after with tech companies seemingly loosening their educational requirements for new recruits?
  • We hear “tutorial hell” uttered throughout the masses of aspiring developers, many of which take a course - only to complete it… and then start another course. freeCodeCamp offers a full curriculum that’s kind of a pathway from junior through getting hired.
    • Do you think that people should be taking as many courses as possible? Or is freeCodeCamp enough?
    • Self-taught developers are often worried about their experience level before they apply to jobs, leading many down the road to tutorial hell - how would someone who is self-taught break out of this worry and possibly this loop of constant learning?
  • Many developers dream of opening up their own for-profit businesses developing for clients, or working on their own apps. In fact many online course offerings are designed for-profit… but freeCodeCamp is not-for-profit and offers its curriculum for free
    • What insights can you give me in making that decision to make freeCodeCamp a not-for-profit?
    • freeCodeCamp’s course offering can help you land a job of course, but what about those developers that are looking to learn and open their own businesses - is there any specific advice (related to freeCodeCamp, or not) that you can give them? Is the educational journey any different?
